Long before Agassi, tennis had its share of 'bad boys, but none embodied the term quite like Agassi. He was not just a player but the sport’s first 'rock star,' a title he earned with his unique style and personality.
As good as Agassi was (8 Grand Slams), he was far more captivating as a presence. Nobody had more of an “it factor” than Agassi did, whose unspoken swagger was backed up on the court. The United States had tennis stars who were known internationally. Still, none were beloved like Agassi, who, despite his flashy look, won most of his contests with a conservative playing style.
Agassi won every major singles tournament and is an Olympic Champion and three-time Davis Cup winner. There is only one more accolade for Agassi left.
We are proud to nominate Andre Agassi for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
