      Roger Goodell is not a popular Commissioner among NFL fans, but are Commissioners ever?

      Goodell embraced the “Boo the Commish” hashtag, protected the “shield”, but you can’t argue that the National Football League has flourished since he took over the Commissioner role from Paul Tagliabue in 2006.

      Since then, the NFL has flourished with record revenues from media rights and international exposure. Under Goodell’s watch, player salaries have grown, and labour peace has been maintained. While the NFL may have been slow to adopt concussion protocols initially, they have since established itself as the standard for player protection.

      Love him or hate him, Goodell is a future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and is worthy of this nomination.
