Marv Albert has been called the “Voice of Basketball,” and the “Voice of the New York Knicks,” and for many hoops fans, not just in NYC, he was the primary play-by-play caller that they heard. Calling Knicks games for decades, Albert was featured nationally on NBC and later TNT, often in the lead game. With his signature “Yes,” Albert transcended pop culture with his multiple appearances on David Letterman and as the voice of NBA Jam; his versatility in calling other sports is legendary.
Albert called football for the New York Giants, the radio version of Monday Night Football, and he was also featured on NBC’s telecasts of MLB, Tennis, and NHL. He was also often used for their boxing telecasts.
We are proud to nominate Marv Albert for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
