  • You can not tell the history of women’s golf without including Louis Suggs.
    A trailblazer in professional golf and a key figure in founding the LPGA, Suggs had a notable amateur career with wins at the U.S. Women's Amateur and British Ladies Amateur. Turning professional in 1948, she quickly dominated the circuit. As one of the 13 founders of the LPGA in 1950 and its president (1955-1957), she had a powerful, perfect swing, earning her the nickname "The Little Miss Showoff" for outdriving peers and competing against male pros like Ben Hogan.

    Suggs achieved 61 wins, including 11 majors, and was the first LPGA player to complete the Career Grand Slam, winning the U.S. Women's Open, Western Open, Titleholders Championship, and LPGA Championship. Her 1949 U.S. Women's Open win was one of the most lopsided, by 14 strokes.

    She was an inaugural inductee into the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame in 1967 and was later inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
